Karyn was in labor for about 15 hours. Her platelet count was high enough on Friday that the doctors let her have an epidural. She had to have a 3rd degree Episiotomy, but has been up and about today. She looks great and says that she feels much better than she did after her first labor and delivery.
Karyn mentioned a few things that she would like for us all to pray about:
- First, Cole had a bit of a struggle during the birth, and ended up with a "stuck" shoulder during delivery. Due to the amount of effort and force it took for him to get out into the world, he suffered some bruising, and in particular, his right shoulder may have suffered some nerve damage. Karyn said that they will have to see a specialist in the next few days to determine if it is in fact nerve damage or not.
- Also, Karyn's mom is currently in town taking care of Calla. Darby's mom will be coming into town on Wednesday. Both mothers are planning to stay at the Hughes' house for about 2 weeks. Karyn and Darby mentioned that their mothers have opposite dispositions, so they ask that we pray for a peaceful two weeks!
- Karyn is set to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, Monday, and at this point, they are not yet sure if Cole will be able to leave with her at that time.
They are at Kennestone Hospital. If you would like to call her, the direct room number is 770-793-8432.
